How to set up the inventory policy?
When a customer places a pre-order for a product on Shopify, the inventory policy comes into play. The inventory policy determines how the system manages stock levels and availability for pre-ordered items. There are two primary inventory policies that are relevant in the context of pre-orders
Units purchased will be automatically deducted from the product inventory when the customer completes the checkout. When a customer completes the checkout process on Shopify, the platform will automatically deduct the purchased items from the inventory.
Shopify will automatically deduct the purchased items from the inventory when the order is fulfilled.
Deduction from inventory after fulfillment doesn't work with the ASAP shipping date!
You can select the inventory policy to meet your needs in the Inventory policy section on the Payment page.
